A Feathered Fun Thank You Card

Today, I had the pleasure of using a stamp set I hadn’t yet tried—Feathered Fun. The moment I laid eyes on those beautiful birds, I knew I had to put them to work! I couldn’t wait to ink them up, and I’m so glad I did because the result is simply gorgeous.

I entered this card in two challenges: Sunday Stamps #360 Spring Splendor Challenge and Freshly Made Sketches #686. The colors I chose were inspired by the Spring Splendor theme—White, Poppy Parade, Cloud Cover, Daffodil Delight, and Crushed Curry. The combination of these cheerful colors felt perfect for the season, and though I did sneak in a bit of black, I hope it still fits the vibe!

The card base is Basic Black, which gives a strong foundation for the pops of color that follow. From there, I layered Cloud Cover, Poppy Parade, and Basic White, each separated by Basic Black mats that help the vibrant colors stand out even more. The focal point of this card is the stamped image of the two larger birds from the Feathered Fun set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp them, and then I carefully colored them in using Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. After coloring, I fussy cut them out (I just love the precision of cutting these delicate shapes!).

For the branch, I stamped it in black and then added leaves in Daffodil Delight ink—some stamped off for a softer look, and some in full strength for a bit of contrast. These, too, were fussy cut, along with five additional leaves I added on top for dimension with dimensionals. The branch was positioned on the top panel of Basic White, and the birds were placed right on top, also using dimensionals for added pop.

To complete the look, I added a “Thank You” sentiment from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack at the bottom of the Basic White panel. For a little sparkle, I finished off the card front with three white Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems.

The inside of the card features a Basic White panel surrounded by Cloud Cover cardstock, keeping it simple but still tied into the theme.

  • Measurements (in inches):
  • Card base (Basic Black) – 4-1/4 x 11
  • Layer 1 (Cloud Cover) – 5-1/4 x 4
  • Layer 2 (Basic Black) – 3-7/8 x 4
  • Layer 3 (Poppy Parade) – 3-3/4 x 4
  • Layer 4 (Basic Black) – 4-3/4 x 3-1/2
  • Layer 5 (Basic White) – 4-5/8 x 3-3/8
  • Inside Card – Basic White 3-3/4 x 5 and Cloud Cover 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
