A Trio of Challenges: Yellow, Green, and Brown Card Inspiration

Today, I’m going to share a card that I created for not one, but three exciting challenges! This card was such a joy to make, and I can’t wait to dive into the details.

First up, I’m entering this card into the Color Throwdown Challenge #806 (keyword CTD806, #ctd806). The challenge this week was to create a project using the colors yellow, green, and brown. These colors together are just stunning, and I had so much fun playing with this vibrant palette. The Color Throwdown Challenges are so fun and I try to enter into their challenges on the regular. In fact, I entered with a fun fold card’s post right here.

For the base of my card, I used some sweet Crumb Cake cardstock. There’s a fun layer of additional Crumb Cake using the Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder to add a subtle yet striking texture to the background, which is why I’m also entering this card in the Can You Handle the Pressure Challenge. On top of that is yet more Crumb Cake, some Old Olive, and then a bit of the beautiful Flowering Zinnias DSP, which perfectly captures those rich yellows and greens. The Irresistible Blooms stamp set took center stage, adding a soft and elegant floral touch and sentiment on on the punched sentiment piece using the Heartfelt Hexagon punch to create an interesting layer and the Polka-Dot Trim behind the sentiment for a bit of texture. Another Can You Handle the Pressure Challenge that I entered is with this sweet card right here.

The layout of this card was inspired by the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #649. The moment I saw their incredible sketch, I knew it would be the perfect foundation for this card.

No card is complete without a little sparkle, right? So I finished off the design with some Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems, which add just the right amount of shimmer and shine. The inside has some nice color, and it’s always fun to have a coordinating envelope!

YouTube video from my channel – please be sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel while you’re there!

I’ve captured the creation process in a Facebook Reel and a YouTube short (posted above), so be sure to check those out for a closer look at how this card came together. It was such a delightful project, and I hope it inspires you to get creative with some challenges of your own! Feel free to share your thoughts or let me know if you’re participating in any challenges yourself. I’d love to see what you’re working on!

  1. Love the texture in the background and the way you did your flower off the little shaped piece. Beautiful card. Thank you for playing at FMS this week!
