Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a cute and simple mummy monster card? Today, I’m excited to share how you can create this fun card using just a few basic supplies: Stamps, Ink, and Paper (SIP). Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner looking for a quick project, this card is the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit during October.
To start, I used Basic Black and Basic White cardstock. The first step is tearing strips from the white cardstock to create the mummy’s bandages. The beauty of this technique is that there’s no need for precision—rough, uneven edges add character and give the mummy a perfectly “wrapped” look. After tearing the strips, I took a tissue and inked the edges with Memento Black ink, giving them an aged appearance that really makes the mummy pop off the card.
Next, I began layering the strips across the front of the card, placing them at different angles and overlapping a few to add dimension. This is where you can really get creative—place the strips in any direction that feels right to you, and remember to leave space for the mummy’s eyes.
For the eyes, I tore small circles from Basic Black cardstock. You can make the eyes as large or as small as you want to achieve the look you’re going for. I tucked them between the bandages, and suddenly, my cute little mummy came to life. To add an extra touch, you can highlight the eyes with a white gel pen or use enamel dots, but I kept mine simple and used bits of torn white cardstock to keep the focus on the mummy design.
The finished card is not only adorable but also incredibly easy to make. It’s a great project for Halloween or any spooky occasion, and you can finish it in no time. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even add a fun sentiment or embellishments, but I decided to keep the design clean and let the mummy take center stage.
