Bold Blooms and Brilliant Blues

Handmade Card with Fragrant Layers Bundle

There is something so energizing about a card that leans all the way into color, and this one absolutely does that. If you love clean layers with a playful twist and bold color contrast, this card is going to make you smile.

This design features the beautiful Fragrant Layers Bundle along with the versatile Stylish Shapes Dies. I began by die cutting the largest circle from Basic White cardstock. The bold circle gives the floral image a defined focal point and helps anchor all that lovely color.

On another scrap of Basic White, I stamped the floral outline image in Memento Tuxedo Black for crisp detail. While I had the ink pad open, I stamped the “Hello” sentiment onto a scrap of Pool Party cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating banner die. I always love when sentiments feel custom-fit like that.

The Basic White card base was stamped all over with the single flower outline image in Pool Party, creating a soft tone-on-tone background. Grid paper saved the day by protecting my workspace while I stamped. The main layered panel is where the bold color comes in. A Blueberry Bushel rectangle was stamped with the coordinating floral fill image in the same ink, creating texture and depth without adding another color. That layer was adhered at an angle to a slightly larger Gorgeous Grape rectangle for strong contrast and visual interest.

The focal floral image was colored with light and dark Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends, giving it dimension and freshness. After fussy cutting the image, I adhered it to the die cut circle and added Crushed Curry die cut flower centers for a cheerful pop. The circle was positioned to the right of the stamped Blueberry Bushel layer, and the entire layered element was added to the card front at a slight angle, leaning a bit toward the left side for movement.

A double bow created from white twine from the Essentials Baker’s Twine Pack was attached behind the sentiment banner for a touch of softness. The banner was then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals™ at the bottom right, adding just the right amount of lift. Inside the card, I layered Basic White onto Blueberry Bushel and then matted that with Gorgeous Grape for a polished and cohesive finish.

I created this project using a sketch that will be featured in my newsletter going out on Monday, February 23, and I had the best time bringing it to life with vibrant blues, purples, and a pop of sunny yellow. This card is bright, layered, and full of personality. It is perfect for sending a happy hello to a friend and letting them know they are on your mind.

I am entering this card into the AAA Colourful Colourboard #25 challenge, inspired by the vibrant color prompt. The combination of Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, and Crushed Curry felt like the perfect way to celebrate bold color in a clean and graphic layout.

If you would like to see exactly how this card came together, I have a full video tutorial walking you through the process, including stamping, layering, and coloring tips.

For my newsletter subscribers, the complete PDF tutorial will be included as a thank you gift in Monday’s February 23 edition. The PDF includes all the measurements and detailed instructions so you can recreate this card with ease. If you are not yet subscribed to my newsletter, you are always welcome to purchase the tutorial in my online store.

I hope this project inspires you to pull out your bold colors, try a fresh sketch, and create something joyful today. There is nothing better than sending a handmade card that is as bright and happy as the person receiving it.
