Cheerful Birthday Card with Layers & Texture

Creating a handmade birthday card is a heartfelt way to show someone how much you care, and this cheerful card is sure to make anyone smile! The combination of textures, layers, and vibrant colors gives this card a fun and eye-catching design that’s perfect for celebrating a special day.

For the base, I started with Mossy Meadow cardstock, a deep, rich green that provides the perfect foundation. To add texture and dimension, I layered Granny Apple Green cardstock, embossed with the Plaster Painting embossing folder. This subtle, artistic texture sets the stage beautifully for the next layer.

The Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper brings a playful and colorful element to the card. I matted this DSP with Mossy Meadow cardstock, which helps it stand out against the embossed background. To add depth, I adhered this layer to the card front using dimensionals. This slight elevation adds visual interest and makes the design pop.

For the sentiment, I turned to the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. “Happy Birthday” was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White cardstock, ensuring a crisp and clean impression. This sentiment piece was then layered onto Granny Apple Green cardstock, followed by a Mossy Meadow mat to tie all the colors together. The sentiment panel was then adhered to the card front, becoming the focal point of the design.

Inside the card, I continued the layering theme to ensure the design felt cohesive. A layer of Basic White was adhered to Granny Apple Green cardstock, creating a polished and professional finish. This extra step not only ties the entire card together but also provides plenty of space to write a personal message.
