Today, I’m excited to share a fun fold card that has quickly become a favorite in my crafting rotation. This design is simple yet adds a dynamic element to any card. The card starts with a single layer of cardstock as the base, coordinating perfectly with the Designer Series Paper (DSP) of your choice.
After adhering the DSP to the base, the real fun begins with a Z-fold made from Basic White cardstock. This is achieved by scoring the cardstock twice and burnishing the score lines with a bone folder to create crisp, clean folds.
The largest section of the Z-fold is adhered to the base, allowing the fold to open up on the left side, which adds a delightful surprise when the card is opened.
Once the Z-fold is in place, another piece of coordinating cardstock is layered on top, bringing the design together. To complete the card, I adhered one final piece of Basic White cardstock which I call my art piece to the coordinating layer and then decorated it in different ways. In the video, I used the Winterly Tree Tops stamps and dies, creating a beautiful nature scene. The result? A stunning card that opens up in a way that’s sure to wow anyone who receives it!
In the video tutorial below, you’ll see that the beautiful Nests of Winter DSP was used on the card, which complements the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set and dies that I featured in my demonstration. I walk you through this process step-by-step, and I even show off four additional examples made with the same fun fold technique in the video. Each one turned out beautifully, and I’m sure you’ll find endless possibilities for personalizing this design with your own stamps and paper.
If you’re feeling inspired, please be sure to check out the video and also grab the measurements below so you can create your own. I’d love to hear what you think and see your creations!
