Today’s project is one of my favorites – it’s a stunning watercolor wash card that’s both vibrant and elegant. If you’ve ever wanted to add a splash of color to your handmade cards, this technique is a must-try for you! Plus, it’s super fun to do.
To begin, let’s talk about the essentials needed for this project. The key to achieving a beautiful watercolor wash is using the right paper. Watercolor paper is your best friend here – it’s sturdy, absorbent, and perfect for handling all the moisture we’re about to throw at it. Your colors will blend beautifully together, creating a rich, layered effect that will make your card stand out.
I also used the Sweetly Scripted stamp set for this project because it adds a perfect touch of elegance and sentiment to the card, making it versatile for any occasion. I chose birthday, since I seem to need a lot of birthday cards lately.
To bring in a bit of extra detail, I’m also using the Changing Leaves dies, which add a lovely, autumnal feel to the design. And, of course, you’ll need the Water Painters and some water to create that smooth, even wash we’re aiming to get.
I have a step-by-step how-to on my YouTube channel and have embedded the video here for your ease in reference. Please be sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. Your support makes all the difference!
And there you have it – a gorgeous, layered card that’s bursting with color and elegance! Whether you’re sending it to a loved one or adding it to your stash, this card is sure to impress.
Watercolor washing is a technique that might seem tricky at first, but with a little practice, you’ll be creating beautiful, artistic backgrounds in no time. Remember, crafting is all about experimenting and having fun, so don’t be afraid to get a little messy and see what happens!
