Creating a Stunning Fall-Themed Card with Doodles and Layers

Creating this card was such a joy, and I love how it turned out! It started with a simple doodle that I brought to life with Cajun Craze, Old Olive, and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blends. The bold lines were enhanced with Black, giving the art a striking definition. I used thick white cardstock for the card base, adding layers of Basic Black and more white cardstock to create a crisp background.

A Cajun Craze band, surrounded by black, lays across the front, adding warmth and depth to the design. I couldn’t resist incorporating a bit of DSP from the Splendid Autumn pack to tie the whole theme together. Black die-cut leaves from the Changing Leaves dies, along with my doodled art, create the perfect focal point. Each art element is matted with black to help them stand out on the card.

The sentiment “a little note to brighten your day” from the Changing Leaves stamp set was stamped in Memento ink, adding just the right touch of warmth to the design. To finish it off, I added a few Adhesive-Backed Sparkled Gems for a bit of sparkle and shine.

Inside, a simple leaf outline from the Changing Leaves stamp set, stamped in black, ties the whole card together. I love how this card balances bold colors with elegant details, making it perfect for both the Color Throwdown #811 and Freshly Made Sketches #654 challenges.

Here’s the video from my YouTube channel with step-by-step how the card was created

Measurements (in inches):

  • Card Base (Thick Basic White) – 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
  • 1st layer (Basic Black) – 4 x 5-1/4
  • 2nd layer (Basic White ) 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
  • Doodle Art piece – 3-1/4 x 1-3/8
  • Mat around art pieces (Basic Black) – 3-3/16 x 1-1/2
  • Coordinating Band Across (Cajun Craze) – 1-3/8 x 3-7/8
