a Paper Party Live You’ll Want to See 🐌🦋
There’s something extra special about Paper Party Live days, and today’s project made my crafty heart so happy. For January, I’m spotlighting the Cute Bugs Suite, and the card I’m sharing tonight on YouTube Live at 8 pm ET is bursting with charm, whimsy, and the sweetest little details.
This card started with a clean and classic foundation—Thick Basic White layered with crisp Basic Black and topped with a bright pop of Poppy Parade gingham from the Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper. That bold pattern is so cheerful, but I wanted to soften it just a bit so the focal scene could really shine. The answer was vellum.
I created a large vellum circle using the Spotlight on Nature dies, then layered it with a delicate Basic White die-cut border. That soft, frosted look gently mutes the gingham underneath while still letting the color peek through, creating the perfect backdrop for a tiny outdoor scene.
And oh my goodness… the critters. A snail with a beetle hitching a ride, cheerful dandelions, and a smiling butterfly were fussy cut straight from the DSP and brought to life with a bit of dimension. They’re playful, sweet, and impossible not to smile at. A simple “Love You Lots” sentiment tucked underneath ties it all together, and a few clear epoxy dots add just the right touch of shine without stealing the spotlight while the inside of the card keeps things neat and polished with a matted writing panel—perfect for adding a heartfelt message while still coordinating beautifully with the front.
This card was inspired by a design shared by Laura Beacham, and as always, I made a few tweaks to better fit my style and the supplies I had on hand. That’s one of my favorite things about cardmaking—taking inspiration and making it your own.

Now, while this adorable scene card is the one I created live, I also designed a bonus project that’s included in the tutorial—and friends, it is a fun fold. It’s a playful Z-fold with a twist that adds movement, dimension, and lots of room for creative storytelling. Think sweet scenes, stitched circles, mushrooms, and one very studious little bug. It’s just as adorable as it sounds.
