with Mini Card
Sometimes a card design comes together in such a fun and unexpected way, and this diagonal fun fold was exactly that kind of project. I knew I wanted to use the beautiful wood textures from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper along with the sweet images from the Springtime Scenes stamp set, and the result is a card with a charming little surprise tucked inside.
The base of the card begins with Pool Party cardstock. To create the diagonal front, the card’s front flap was cut in half diagonally. That angled edge creates a playful opening that shows off the patterned paper and gives the card a completely different look than a traditional fold.
For the card front, a piece of Misty Moonlight woodgrain patterned Country Woods DSP was trimmed to match the card front and adhered. Inside the card, a gray woodgrain pattern adds a beautiful finished background when the card is opened.
I love the mini card on this piece! It provides such a sweet little space to write a message. The mini card is adhered inside the larger card so that it overlaps the diagonal opening when the card is closed, creating a layered interactive look. To decorate the front of the mini card, die cuts from the Springtime Scenes were used with the coordinating stamp set. To finish the design, a tiny Linen Thread bow was secured to the card front.
I absolutely love how this card turned out. The diagonal opening adds visual interest, the woodgrain patterns create warmth and texture, and that sweet little ladybug makes the whole design feel cheerful and bright.
