Dino-Mite Birthday Card

If you’re looking for a cheerful, playful birthday card that will bring a big smile, today’s project is for you! I had so much fun creating with the Darling Dinos stamp set and coordinating dies—it’s the perfect mix of cute, colorful, and creative. Let’s walk through how this happy little triceratops came to life on the card.

I began by stamping the sweet triceratops in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap of Basic White cardstock. With my Stampin’ Blends in Old Olive, Lemon Lime Twist, Poppy Parade, and Smoky Slate, everything was colored in – so much vibrant personality! After coloring, the coordinating die was used to cut it out and set it aside while the background was built.

The focal point comes from the Impressions Abloom dies, which create a layered oval frame. I cut the inside oval in Basic White and the outer ring in the soft shade of Darling Duckling. For texture, I ran a panel of Basic White through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Pattern of Friendship die. The subtle striped pattern it creates is simply gorgeous and adds instant dimension to the background.

On the Basic White oval, I stamped the “grass” from Darling Dinos in Old Olive. Using a Sponge Dauber, I blended in the ground area with Old Olive for a natural look. A little extra grass stamping made the scene feel just right—perfect for the adorable dino to settle into! I popped up the triceratops with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it life and placed it in the middle of the oval.

The birthday sentiment, “Hope Your Birthday is Dino-Mite,” is stamped in black on a strip of Basic White, then banner-cut on both ends. To really make it stand out, I layered it onto strips of Darling Duckling and Poppy Parade, each cut slightly larger to create a triple-layered banner. This sentiment was placed above the dino, overlapping the oval frame for a polished finish.

To complete the front, I added three Darling Duckling 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls—a little sparkle goes a long way! And inside, a panel of Basic White is layered onto a Darling Duckling mat for a coordinated finish that ties it all together. I think this card is perfect for the Tic Tac Toe #277 challenge this week for the diagonal Yellow-FREE-Red squares.
