Eclipse Technique Made Easy

Three Stunning Styles You’ll Love

Sometimes the techniques that intimidate us the most end up being the ones we enjoy the most once we finally give them a try. That was exactly the case for me with the Eclipse technique. For a long time, I admired the layered look and dramatic dimension from afar, convinced it was far more complicated than it really was. Eventually, curiosity won out. I did a little research, figured out what the Eclipse technique truly is, and then jumped right in.

What I discovered was such a pleasant surprise. Once the mystery was taken out of the process, the Eclipse technique became not only approachable, but incredibly fun. The layers, the depth, and the visual “wow” factor all come together in a way that looks advanced, yet is completely achievable with a few simple steps.

In today’s project, I’m sharing three different Eclipse card styles that I believe are the easiest to start with and absolutely stunning when finished. You’ll see the classic Eclipse card that most people think of first, a reverse Eclipse technique that adds a fun twist, and a framing Eclipse technique that creates beautiful structure and dimension. Each style offers something a little different, and together they show just how versatile this technique can be.

I walk through these cards in detail in the video below, explaining what makes the Eclipse technique work and how to approach it with confidence. If you’ve ever felt unsure about trying this technique, I hope this video helps you feel encouraged and excited to give it a go.

To make things even easier, I’ve also created a free downloadable PDF tutorial to go along with this project. The tutorial is designed to help you recreate these Eclipse cards at your own pace and serves as a handy reference when you’re ready to try the technique on your own crafting table.

Whether you’re watching the video during the Premiere, catching the replay later, or crafting along with the PDF in hand, my hope is that you’ll walk away feeling confident and inspired. Techniques like this don’t have to be intimidating. Sometimes all they need is a little explanation and a willingness to jump right in.

I’m entering the green “Expressing Heartfelt Gratitude to You” card in the Just Add Ink #776 Challenge where you pick two or more of their words for inspiration (I chose Stripes and Shimmer).

And I’m entering the “Just Because I Appreciate You” card into the Word Power December 2025 Challenge.

Thank you so much for spending some creative time with me today. If you try one of these Eclipse card styles, I would absolutely love to see what you create. Feel free to leave a comment or share your project—I’m always cheering you on. Happy stamping!
