Creating beautiful handmade cards doesn’t have to be complicated, and I have a delightful template to prove it! This card template is not only incredibly simple but also perfectly showcases Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is also known as patterned paper.
I have a great step-by-step video on my YouTube channel for this template, and I have it embedded further down in this post. For the card I made in the video, I started with a base of Lost Lagoon, a soothing and versatile color. Inside the card, I added layers of Pretty Peacock and Basic White on top. This combination provides ample space for a heartfelt message while maintaining an elegant appearance.
The DSP I used in the video is from the Bright & Beautiful collection. Following the template shown below, I cut the DSP to size and matted it with a coordinating layer of Pretty Peacock. These two layers were then adhered to the front of the card base, creating a stunning focal point. To add a celebratory touch, I used the “Happy Birthday” dies from the Wanted to Say set, cutting them out of Lost Lagoon and the Glimmer Specialty Paper in White. The Glimmer Specialty Paper is incredibly gorgeous, adding a touch of sparkle and comes in three colors: Old Olive, White, and Berry Burst.
To finish off the card, I embellished it with the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio in Pretty Peacock, adding just the right amount of shimmer and fun. This card is not only fun to make but also so easy that I ended up making multiples using the same template. The different DSP collections I used include Country Lace, Bright & Beautiful, Thoughtful Journey, and Full of Life, each bringing a unique look to the design.
Here is the step-by-step video tutorial from my YouTube channel, walking you through the entire process of making this card. It’s perfect for crafters of all levels, from beginners to seasoned cardmakers.
Exciting news for August: Stampin’ Up! is having a sale with 15% off all DSP in the 2024-2025 catalog. This includes all the DSP collections I used for these cards. It’s the perfect time to stock up and try out this easy and fun card template for yourself.
Happy crafting!
