Extraordinary Flora Fun

Today, I’m excited to share a project that’s not only fun to make but perfect for gifting or keeping—three unique cards, each showcasing the versatility of the Extraordinary Flora stamp set, coordinating dies, and Washi Tape. Plus, I created a custom box to hold them all! Let’s dive into the details of each design and how I combined different elements to create this stunning set.

The first card is a fun fold that uses Perennial Lavender DSP paired with a Pretty Peacock base and accents of Blackberry Bliss. The Washi Tape die cuts cascade down the front, adding a beautiful flow that draws the eye toward the elegant “Congratulations” sentiment from the Extraordinary Flora stamp set. This design is both playful and sophisticated, and the layers of color make it a real standout.

I’m entering this fun card in the Inkspirational Challenge #342 where the Word Prompt is “Celebrate”

I also created the same card using the Celebratory Sips DSP with Berry Burst as the card base and mini card layer. So much fun and love how many options there are for this card! Measurements are listed below the signature.

Next up is a sweet and colorful card that uses a base of Basic White and layers of Basic Black. For this design, the large floral image from Extraordinary Flora was stamped in black, then this art piece was cut into four pieces. Using Blending Brushes, fun pops of color with various inks were added, giving the florals a soft, gradient effect. The sentiment, “Hello There”, from Blooming Phrases, was stamped in black on Basic White, and layered over more Basic Black. To finish the front, I added some Shades of Green Hexagons, giving the design a geometric, modern touch that contrasts beautifully with the soft florals. This design was CASEd from R. Tessman, a fellow SU! demo. Since it was such a fun card to create, I had to make a second with some different inks and sentiment, too! Measurements for this card are listed below my signature at the bottom of the post.

The third card features Darling Duckling DSP from Floral Impressions, paired with Darling Duckling, Basic White, and Basic Black cardstocks. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Pattern of Friendship stamp set, stamped on Basic White and surrounded by Basic Black for a bold effect. To add texture and depth, I included the Washi Tape die cuts and finished it off with Strawberry Slush and Pretty in Pink gems. This card is a cheerful burst of color, perfect for a birthday celebration.

Of course, the urge to create this card with a different color was irresistible, so I created it with a Strawberry Slush Base, using the same DSP pack, gems, and stamp sets, as well. Measurements for creating these cards are listed below my signature at the bottom of the post.

I’m entering this Strawberry Slush card into the Paper Players Challenge #739, which is a fabulous sketch.

Finally, it was time to create something special to house these cards. I designed a custom box using Thick Basic White cardstock for the bottom and lid. To add texture to the lid, I embossed a panel of Darling Duckling with the Mini Corrugated Embossing Folder most of the way. I left a bit of the right side unembossed for fun, and on that side, I added a cascade of Washi Tape die cuts that had been adhered to the Window Sheet panel, creating a delicate, floating effect. To tie it all together, I sprinkled Strawberry Slush and Pretty-in-Pink gems along the Washi Tape die cut flowers, just like on the card fronts. Measurements for creating the box is listed below my signature at the bottom of the post.

These projects are such a great way to showcase how versatile the Extraordinary Flora stamp set, dies, and Washi Tape can be. Each card has its own unique look, and the matching box ties everything together beautifully. I also created a video showing how these items were created, step-by-step:

Whether you’re keeping these cards for yourself or giving them as a gift, they’re sure to make a lasting impression!

  2. Julia, I love the way you interpreted the challenge. I love both the yellow and red versions, but I am a sucker for yellow and black! The black mat helps to draw your eye to the sentiment and allows those vertical elements to pop. So glad you shared this with us at The Paper Players this week
