Today, I had the absolute joy of creating a fun fold card that took my creativity to new heights. I decided to go all out with layers, something I don’t often do, and I am in love with the result. This design is truly special, and the versatility it offers makes it one I can see myself using time and time again.

The card began with a Granny Apple Green base measuring 10 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4 and 8-1/2. To add even more interest, a second smaller card measuring 7 x 3-1/2 was created using Mossy Meadow cardstock. Once these two pieces were cut and folded, it was time to bring in the magic of the Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper. The gorgeous variety of patterns and the beautifully coordinating colors made this DSP the perfect choice. One piece of DSP was adhered to the larger front section of the card base, while a different but equally stunning pattern was added to the smaller flap.

To construct the fun fold element, the smaller card was adhered to the right front panel, aligning the fold lines so that it opens in the opposite direction. A coordinating panel of DSP was attached to the front of this smaller card, setting the stage for the decorative elements. Using the Mixed Florals dies, I cut intricate foliage pieces from Granny Apple Green and Mossy Meadow cardstock. These were arranged alongside a beautiful flower image and adorable ladybugs from the Mixed Florals stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends before being die cut.

To create a polished finish, the die cuts were trimmed as needed and a 1/2” x 3-1/2” strip of Petal Pink cardstock, embossed with the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder, was added to the base of the arrangement. This piece not only created a grounding effect but also cleverly concealed any uneven trimmed edges. For the sentiment, “I’m so Glad We’re Friends” from the Mixed Florals stamp set was stamped on a scrap of Basic White, punched out with a 1-3/4” circle punch, and adhered slightly overlapping the embossed Petal Pink strip and tucking under one of the flowers.

A playful ladybug was added to a leaf for an extra touch of charm. The inside of the small card was finished with a panel of Basic White, stamped with “Just a Note to Let You Know You’re on my Mind” and decorated with a few more ladybugs. The larger card’s inside panel also featured Basic White cardstock with a coordinating DSP strip along the right side and another playful ladybug toward the bottom. To bring everything together with a touch of elegance, three Low Profile dots in gold were added to the front.

Beyond this first creation, I explored different variations of this fun fold layout, each with its own unique personality. A “Thinking of You” version was crafted using Timeless Plaid DSP with Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, and Calypso Coral cardstocks, paired with the With You In Mind stamp set and Autumn Leaves die cuts—perfect for a more masculine design.

Another take on this layout featured the Beautiful Bokeh DSP and the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set and dies, with the So Swirly Embossing Folder adding a delightful touch of texture.

Finally, a bright and cheerful birthday version came to life using the Bright & Beautiful DSP, Azure Afternoon and Basic White cardstocks, and fun ephemera elements that are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
