Keep Your Cards Safe in the Mail with This Simple Tip!

As crafters, we put so much love and effort into creating something special, and the last thing we want is for embellishments to be damaged or poke through the envelope during mailing. Luckily, there’s an easy solution that not only protects your cards but also adds a touch of elegance: using an embossed sheet of cardstock.

Why Use an Embossed Sheet of Cardstock?

An embossed sheet of cardstock is a double-duty hero for your handmade cards:

  1. Protection: It creates a barrier between your embellishments and the envelope, preventing anything from tearing or denting the paper during transit.
  2. Style: The texture of an embossed design adds an extra layer of sophistication to your presentation, making your card feel even more special.

How to Use This Technique

Here’s how you can easily incorporate this tip into your card-making process:

  1. Cut to Size: Trim the embossed cardstock to fit the size of your card. It should be slightly smaller than the envelope to slide in easily.
  2. Place on Top: Lay the embossed sheet directly on top of your card before inserting it into the envelope.
  3. Seal and Send: Insert your card and embossed sheet into the envelope and seal it up. Your card is now ready to travel in style and safety!

Why This Matters

Sending handmade cards is all about creating a personal connection. Knowing your card will arrive just as beautiful as when it left your hands ensures that the recipient gets the full impact of your thoughtful creation. Plus, this small detail shows your dedication to quality and care.

    • Thank you for your comment! 😊 It sounds like you’ve been using embossing to add a special touch to your invitations and card swaps—how creative! I’d love to hear more about how you incorporate embossing into your projects. Are you embossing the invitations themselves, or adding embossed layers for mailing? Either way, it sounds like a wonderful way to make your projects stand out!

  1. Thanks for this tip. I will often add another piece of paper, but never thought to emboss it. I will try that now. Just a warning, be sure your stuffed envelope does not exceed the 1/4” thickness maximum, or 1oz letter weight, or more postage will be required.

    • Thanks for your comment, Cat! 😊 I’m so glad you found the tip helpful and are excited to try embossing the extra piece—it really does add a nice touch. 💌 You’re absolutely right about being mindful of the thickness and weight for postage. I mention in the video that the embossed cardstock itself shouldn’t push the envelope over the limit, but sometimes the card accompanying the embossed sheet of cardstock can. It’s always good to double-check at the post office if you’re unsure. Thanks again for sharing your insight—it’s a great reminder!
