Hi, everyone! I’m so excited to share my latest scrapbooking project with you, inspired by both the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge and the Reindeer Memories Scrapbook Kit from Stampin’ Up! This page brings back such happy memories from our August 2024 trip to Michigan. If you’re like me and love scrapbooking special moments, I hope this project gives you some inspiration for your own pages!
Choosing the Layout & Colors
I always like to start with a bit of creative inspiration, and this time, the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge #717 provided the perfect color palette. I decided to use a Mossy Meadow cardstock as my base—it’s such a beautiful, deep green and feels very earthy, just like the parks we visited in Michigan.
For a nice pop of contrast, I layered a sheet of Basic White cardstock on top, leaving about an inch of Mossy Meadow showing on the right side and ¾ inch at the top and bottom. The crisp white really helps the photos and embellishments stand out, while still giving the page a polished look.
Capturing Our Michigan Trip
I chose photos from our day at Lake Michigan, specifically at Holland State Park, where we saw the famous red lighthouse. It’s such a striking landmark, and I really wanted to highlight it in the layout. I cut the photos down to 3-¾ x 3-¾ inches, which gave me flexibility to play with the arrangement and also leave room for journaling and other decorative elements.
Adding the Fun Details
To bring more life to the page, I layered in colorful pieces from the Full of Life DSP. I found that the red and pink pieces of DSP were absolutely perfect for the challenge colors, and they also complemented the red lighthouse in the photos. I also used a green shapes piece of DSP, which added a whimsical touch to the layout and tied in beautifully with the Mossy Meadow base.
Finishing Touches with Ephemera & Journaling
No scrapbook page is complete without those little extras, right? I pulled out some ephemera from the Something for Everything and Labels & Layers packs to add texture and dimension to the page. These elements really pulled everything together, giving the layout a bit more depth and making it feel more finished.
For journaling, I typed up my thoughts and printed them out to include on the page. I love sharing stories about our travels, but I have to admit—I’m not a huge fan of my handwriting, so printed journaling is my go-to!

I’m so happy with how this scrapbook page turned out! It’s always rewarding to take a blank canvas and transform it into something that captures not just the photos, but the feelings and memories behind them.
