Out of My Comfort Zone and Into Colorful Creativity

If you’ve been hanging out with me for a while, you know I tend to gravitate toward certain color palettes. Today, I decided to shake things up and lean into a mix of colors that I wouldn’t normally reach for or put together—and I have to say, I’m so glad I did!

This fun fold card began with the brand-new Cloud Cover cardstock, one of the fresh and fabulous 2025–2026 Stampin’ Up! In Colors. After creating a standard card base, I gave it a twist—literally—by cutting the front panel on a diagonal from the top left to the bottom right. That’s where the Celebration Expressions Memories & More Card Pack (coming out in the new annual May 2025 – April 2026 catalog) came in. One of the patterned cards practically jumped out at me with its bold design, so I trimmed it and cut it on the same diagonal. Once adhered to the center of the Cloud Cover base, it created this seamless, eye-catching look that makes you do a double take!

To add even more dimension, I created a smaller card from Basic White cardstock. Another pattern from the same Card Pack was trimmed just a bit smaller and then both were turned into a banner together before being adhered onto the front of this small card. The small card was then adhered inside the main card base so the front flap of the small card goes over the diagonal cut front piece, creating a fun interactive element.

For an extra pop, I hand-cut a stripe from yet another card in the Memories & More pack—this one full of cheerful, colorful stripes—and tucked it right under the small card. It brings in just enough of a surprise pattern without stealing the show.

The sentiment comes from the upcoming More Messages stamp set, stamped in Berry Burst ink and cut with the coordinating dies. “You’re Simply Incredible” felt like the perfect choice for the bold layout and bright vibe of the card. I added a little texture with a loopy bow of White Essentials Baker’s Twine behind the die cut sentiment, then finished everything off with some white/clear Sparkle Gems.

This card was a leap outside of my usual design tendencies, but wow—what a joyful leap it was! It’s a great reminder to get a little uncomfortable and see where creativity takes you. I loved the challenge of trying something different, and I love even more how it all came together.

I’ve entered this card into the Freshly Made Sketches #679 Challenge and the Shopping Our Stash #544 Weekly Challenge.

If you’re curious to see how it came together step by step, I have a shorts video from my YouTube channel for you—click below to view!
