Quick and Easy Double Pocket Cards

Crafting double pocket cards is such a fun and versatile way to bring your designs to life, and today’s project came together so quickly and beautifully. The process was seamless, and the results were delightful!

To create the base of the card, a 12 x 12 sheet of Designer Series Paper (DSP) is trimmed into an 8-1/2 x 11 piece. If you’re using a directional design, it’s helpful to keep in mind that part of the pattern may end up upside down—but that typically adds to the charm of this card style. After scoring the DSP at 4-1/4 and 5-1/2, fold along the score lines. The top left corner is then folded down to the center score line, and the bottom right corner folded up to meet the same line. Once folded into a standard card size, the base is complete and ready for decoration.

For the front, I used Basic White cardstock cut with the Nested Essentials dies and layered it with some intricate die-cut birds from the Nests of Winter DSP. A few fussy-cut berries added visual interest to the card front, tying the elements together.

The inside of the card features two insert pieces. The first card insert highlights the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set with the sentiment “A friend like you brings me happiness” stamped in Early Espresso on Basic White cardstock, matted with Cherry Cobbler. A sweet die-cut robin was adhered to complete this heartfelt piece. For the second insert, Garden Green ink brought the greenery swag stamp to life on Basic White cardstock, which was also matted with Cherry Cobbler. A small pocket made from DSP was glued around three edges, providing the perfect spot to tuck a gift card.

For added variety, I created additional cards with the same double-pocket design. One used the Nature’s Sweetness DSP alongside the Love Strength stamp set, Misty Moonlight accents, and Stylish Shapes dies, making it an encouraging card for someone who needs a little extra cheer. Another variation used Berry Burst and Garden Green inks, paired with Pecan Pie cardstock and the Irresistible Blooms stamp set and dies, to create a vibrant and layered card perfect for brightening anyone’s day.

To top off the creative day, one of my cards from this session is being entered into an online challenge: Sketch Saturday #765. I picked Sketch #305 from their archive and incorporated it into this design for a fun twist on the classic layout.

Here’s a video showing how to create these cards, step by step, from my YouTube Channel:

Measurements: (all in inches)

  • Base of card – DSP cut to 8-1/2 x 11, scored at 4-1/4 and 5-1/2
  • Basic White – 3-1/4 x 4-3/4 (two of these)
  • Coordinating Cardstock to mat the Basic White – 3-3/8 x 4-7/8 (two of these)
  • DSP for envelope – 2 x 6
  • DSP for pocket – 2 x 3-7/8
  • Scrap for die cutting

These cards are not only quick and easy to make but are also highly customizable for any occasion. Whether you’re tucking in a heartfelt note, a thoughtful sentiment, or a gift card, these designs are sure to bring a smile to the recipient’s face. I hope this inspires you to dive into your craft supplies and create your own version of these double pocket cards!
