There’s something about simplicity that brings out the beauty in cardmaking, and today’s project is the perfect example of just that. Using the stunning Peaceful View and Beautiful Motifs stamp sets, I created a peaceful scene that feels like a serene sunrise in the country. This card is simple to make, yet the result is simply breathtaking.

Using a Blending Brush on a panel of Basic White cardstock, Balmy Blue ink was applied at the top, followed by Daffodil Delight in the middle, and Garden Green at the bottom. Next, I took the Peaceful View stamp set, and inked it up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Since the stamp is quite large, I placed the colored Basic White panel on top of the inked stamp, with the colored side facing down. To help transfer the ink evenly, a piece of scrap grid paper was placed on top and gently pressed all around with a smaller acrylic block. When I lifted the paper and the colored panel, the beautiful image was transferred with the gorgeous colors giving a sunrise effect.

The stamped art piece was matted with Basic Black, which really made the colors pop. Then the Beautiful Motifs stamp set was used to stamp the sentiment “Thinking of You” onto a small strip of Basic White. This sentiment was then adhered to a slightly larger piece of Basic Black for a crisp contrast.

The card base is a bright pop of Daffodil Delight to complement the bright yellow in the design. The sentiment was placed toward the bottom left center of the art piece, overlapping the mat slightly, creating a balanced focal point. To finish, a Basic White panel inside the card was matted with Basic Black and stamped with the sentiment of “You’ve Been On My Mind” in Memento Tuxedo Black, creating a lovely final touch.

I love how this card turned out! It’s a simple Stamps-Ink-Paper (SIP) design that’s easy to recreate over and over again. I CASEd it from S. Armstrong – she showed this during an event called “Launch Your Creativity (so fun!) Whether you’re making it for a friend, family member, or someone special, the calming image and thoughtful sentiment are sure to be appreciated.
