It’s Paper Party Live time again, and this week we’re diving into a technique that turns your patterned paper into something even more special—stamping directly on your Designer Series Paper (DSP)! Too often, we treat DSP like a precious decoration that’s only meant for layering or backgrounds. But it’s paper—beautiful, versatile paper—and it’s absolutely perfect for stamping, masking, blending, and creating unique textures.

For our first project, I used the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper paired with the Prairie Grass stamp set. I started with a cheerful Lemon Lolly cardstock panel and punched a circle from it to serve as a mask. With Lemon Lolly ink and a Blending Brush, a warm glow was added to the linen-look DSP, creating a soft sunlit effect. Then, the tall prairie grass was stamped in Early Espresso across the bottom to give the card a serene, nature-inspired feel.

The finished DSP panel was layered onto the Lemon Lolly cardstock (which perfectly hides the punch!) and then popped up on a Crumb Cake base for extra dimension. A touch of texture came from a tweed strip of DSP, and the sentiment—“Sending the Healing Power of Love”—was stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock and punched with the Modern Oval Punch. A few Frosted Iridescent Dots gave it a soft sparkle. Inside, a Basic White panel carries a faint echo of the prairie grass for a polished finish.

The alternative card features the same ideas—masking, stamping, and blending—but with a completely different vibe. Using the Sunrise Sailing stamp set and Country Woods DSP, the technique takes on a coastal, breezy mood. It’s always fascinating to see how one approach can yield such distinct styles just by switching papers and stamps!

For my bonus project, I reached for the Splendid Autumn DSP, choosing the rich, dark blue wash pattern as my backdrop. I stamped the Prairie Grass in Memento Tuxedo Black across it, then sliced the panel into strips, keeping them in order to preserve that gorgeous flow. Layered on Basic Black and mounted to a Thick Basic White base, the result is stunning. The sentiment, “Thinking of You,” from Friendly Foliage, ties everything together, accented with a simple Black Baker’s Twine bow.

I shared all of these cards live during Paper Party Live on YouTube, where we explored just how creative you can get when you stop treating DSP as “off limits” for stamping:
The PDF tutorial for this session is available in my online store, and it was free for my September customers and my team members—complete with make-and-take materials to craft along with me.
If you’ve never tried stamping directly on DSP before, now’s the time! Grab your favorite patterned papers, a few inks, and a stamp set that makes you smile, and give it a try. You’ll love how it opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities.
