Triple Fold Card

… a Fun Fold to Use Up Your DSP Stash (Yes, Really!)

If you’ve been holding onto your Designer Series Paper because it’s just too pretty to cut, this one is for you. You know exactly what I’m talking about. We save it, we admire it, and somehow we convince ourselves we’ll use it “someday.” Well… today is that day.

I sat down with my stash, and decided it was time to start using it. Stampin’ Up! does such an amazing job with coordination that it really takes the guesswork out of mixing patterns. Everything works together beautifully, which makes a card like this feel almost effortless.

This triple fold card is one of those designs that looks like you spent a lot of time planning and measuring, but it’s actually very simple once you get started. Even better, it gives you the perfect opportunity to use a variety of patterned papers all on one card. I created three different cards using the same layout, the same stamp set, and the same inks, just by switching out the Designer Series Paper and a few details. It’s such a great reminder of how versatile one design can be.

Each of the cards has the same inside writing area, which is tucked neatly under the tri-fold section on the left side. This keeps everything looking clean from the outside while still giving you a nice space to write your message. The panel is White Willow layered onto Secret Sea, and I added a little detail in the bottom left corner with Old Olive foliage and a larger Secret Sea flower. It’s a small touch, but it really finishes the inside beautifully.

The first card has a soft and simple feel. The belly band is wrapped with Textured Ribbon in Cloud Cover, which adds just a hint of texture without overwhelming the design. The stamped focal image is punched with the 2-inch circle punch and left unlayered, which keeps everything light and clean. I finished it off with Cloud Cover Moody Palette Glossy Dots that blend right in while still adding a bit of shine.

For the second card, I used the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper, which brings in a cozy, layered look. The belly band is wrapped with Gray Granite Variegated Ribbon and tied into a knot, adding a little extra interest. A few White Moody Palette Glossy Dots complete the front and add that final touch.

The third card features the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper, which gives it a fresh and cheerful feel. The belly band is wrapped with Faux Linen Ribbon in Secret Sea. I added Old Olive Moody Palette Glossy Dots to tie in with the foliage elements, and everything comes together so nicely.

This is such a great card to send just because. It doesn’t need a special occasion, although it certainly works for one. It’s one of those cards that feels thoughtful and a little extra, and the person receiving it will likely think you spent a lot more time on it than you actually did.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start using your Designer Series Paper, this is it. Pull out those coordinating packs, choose the patterns you love, and give this layout a try. It’s a fun one, and I have a feeling you’ll find yourself coming back to it again and again.

I’ve put together a full video tutorial so you can see exactly how this card comes together from start to finish.

I’ve also created a free PDF tutorial with all the measurements and details so you can easily recreate these cards.

I would truly love to hear from you. Are you someone who uses your Designer Series Paper right away, or do you tend to save it? No judgment here… I think we all know my answer.
