Some cards just make you squeal with delight, and this one is exactly that! This fun fold is so stinkin’ adorable that I can hardly stand it. It’s packed with playful details, bright pops of color, and just enough whimsy to make anyone’s birthday extra special.
I started with a strong foundation of Basic Black cardstock, scored into a gatefold to create that dramatic opening. To bring in color and pattern, I added the Timid Tiger In Color Designer Series Paper to each flap, giving the card front a wild and energetic vibe. For the focal point, I die cut an oval from Basic White using the Impressions Abloom Dies and stamped the cheerful “Woohoo It’s Your Birthday!” sentiment in crisp Memento Black. To keep the fun rolling, I layered on a circle stamped with the curvy “It’s Your Day! Go Wild” sentiment in Timid Tiger and then added the most adorable little monkey, colored with Stampin’ Blends. Popped up with Dimensionals, the whole panel comes alive with charm.
But the real magic happens when you open the card. A Z-fold insert of Lovely Garden DSP, layered onto Timid Tiger cardstock, creates a hidden playground of jungle fun. At the top, a sentiment strip declares “Happy Birthday You Party Animal,” while the middle panel showcases a giraffe standing tall with the words “Hakuna Matata” perched on its neck at jaunty angles.
Below, a bright tiger image prowls across the bottom panel, colored with rich Blends for an eye-catching finish. Each detail—from the fussy-cut giraffe to the perfectly tied double Linen Thread bow on the card front—adds to the playful safari theme.
This fun fold is one of those cards that surprises and delights at every turn. From the bold gatefold exterior to the wild Z-fold interior, it’s a birthday card that celebrates with personality, color, and joy. I couldn’t resist creating a second version of this fun fold, and this one is all about capturing the beauty of a sunset. With rich shades of Cloud Cover, Secret Sea, Pumpkin Pie, and Timid Tiger, the card radiates warmth and depth.
The gradient of colors feels like a sky melting into evening, while still keeping the playful fun fold. It’s amazing how changing up the palette gives this fold an entirely new personality—soft, sweet, and glowing like the perfect sunset.
And I made sure there’s plenty of room to write inside the card!
