Have you ever stumbled across a card idea on social media that made you drop everything and head straight to your craft desk? That’s exactly what happened to me when I saw a post by K Titus from Stampin’ on the Back Porch. She called it the Pop Out Window Card—and I just had to CASE it (Copy And Share Everything)! There’s a little Z-fold twist to the card, so I’m calling it the Z-Fold Pop Out Window Card. No matter what you call it, this is one fun and fabulous card design that you’ll want to make again and again.

For my card, I began with a card base in Cloud Cover and layered it with a vibrant, rainbow-inspired piece of Boho Vibes Designer Series Paper. To create the “window,” I ran the card front through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the fourth from smallest Stylish Shapes circle die, positioning it just above the center of the front panel.

Next came the inside structure of the card—a piece of Basic White cardstock cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/4″, scored at 4″, then flipped and scored again at 2″. After folding it into a Z shape, I adhered it inside the card base so that it opens with an unexpected yet delightful twist.

The sentiment I chose—“You’re On My Mind and In My Heart”—comes from the Encircled With Love stamp set. I stamped it in Secret Sea ink on Basic White and cut it with the third from smallest Stylish Shapes circle die. To add a little polish, I used those same circle dies to create a Secret Sea cardstock frame. Using the original Cloud Cover circle cut from the card front as the base for the sentiment frame, everything was attached to that, (the sentiment piece with Dimensionals) and then to adhere it to the inside of the card through the window, only the right side of the sentiment piece was adhered to the inner Z-fold panel—this keeps it perfectly positioned in the window. Yep, the entire piece was mounted behind the window so that it peeks through when the card is closed.

To add that finishing touch, the foliage from the Sunshine Vibes stamp set was stamped in the lower left corner of the Basic White insert using Secret Sea ink. Finally, five Muted Palette Dots were placed around the sentiment on the card front—three on the right and two on the upper left—for just the right amount of shine, dimension, and textural interest.

This card is such a blast to make and looks so impressive when opened. The best part? It’s surprisingly easy to put together once you’ve tried it. I filmed a video showing exactly how it comes together, so be sure to check it out and create along with me.
I can’t wait to see your version of this Z-Fold Pop Out Window Card!
