A Fun and Thankful Card

I’m beyond excited to share a special project with you today! I have the honor of being a guest designer for Color Throwdown #833, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

For the Color Throwdown challenge, the colors are aqua, red, and gray—or something close to those hues. When I saw the color combo, I immediately knew I wanted to work with these beautiful tones. For the layout, I used the fantastic sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap Challenge #285, and I also entered the A Cut Above May “Anything Goes” challenge. It was so inspiring to combine all of these challenges, and I hope you enjoy the end result!

The card itself started with a Thick Basic White card base, layered with a touch of Basic Black to create contrast and help the Coastal Cabana pop. A second layer of Basic White was added to the top of the Coastal Cabana for a clean canvas, allowing all the design elements to shine through.

I couldn’t resist using the Round We Go stamp set and matching dies for this project. I cut a strip of Cajun Craze and placed it across the middle of the card surrounded with a bit of Basic Black. Then, I took Cajun Craze and Smoky Slate die cuts from the Round We Go set, and layered them (with a fun pinwheel die cut from the center of the Cajun Craze circle). The result is a dynamic shape with colors that perfectly fit the Color Throwdown palette.

For added dimension, dimensionals were used to pop up a small Coastal Cabana die-cut circle over the Cajun Craze strip, giving the card an added layer of interest. The sentiment of “Thanks,” from the Blooming Phrases stamp set, was stamped in Cajun Craze on Basic White, framed with Cajun Craze and Basic Black, and positioned at the bottom right of the card. To finish it off, three black Neutral Matte Dots were added to the top right of the Cajun Craze strip, drawing the eye toward the center of the card.

Inside the card, there’s a playful touch with pinwheel stamps in Coastal Cabana, complete with Smoky Slate centers and accents—because who doesn’t love a little extra fun inside the card too?
