Cozy Watercoloring

Hygge Stamping 🍂

When you’re a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, you get the sweetest little nuggets of inspiration right in your inbox—project ideas, creative sparks, and those fun, newsy updates from the Stampin’ Up! home office. Today’s email was all about hygge stamping—that cozy, contented feeling of crafting something beautiful—and I just couldn’t resist CASEing the featured card!

Of course, I made a few changes (because that’s what we do, right?) and kept a few of the original elements that really spoke to me. I started with a sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper cut to 3-Âľ” x 5″. Using Blending Brushes, I softly added layers of Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Blackberry Bliss inks. Once I had a gorgeous fall blend, I spritzed the paper with water using my Stampin’ Spritzer, blotted it dry with a paper towel, and repeated until I loved the dreamy mix of colors and water spots.

While that dried, I die-cut a few Crushed Curry leaves from my cardstock scraps—because, let’s face it, leaves make everything better! Then came the magic: I ran the now-dry watercolor panel through my Cut & Emboss Machine with the Amber Autumn leaf die (the one that’s a full 3-Âľ” x 5″ panel). It took a few passes since watercolor paper is thicker, but it was so worth it. After carefully removing all those little pieces, I adhered the die-cut panel to a Very Vanilla mat measuring and popped it up on a Cajun Craze card base with Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I stamped “Autumn Wishes” in Blackberry Bliss on a piece of Very Vanilla and tucked a strip of Cajun Craze cardstock behind it to peek out from the sides and bottom. I added one of those Crushed Curry leaves to the right side, tied a little Linen Thread bow, and attached it all with Dimensionals toward the right side of the card front. To finish, I scattered three Streaked Dots for just the right touch of shimmer.

Inside, I layered Very Vanilla over Crushed Curry and added another die-cut Crushed Curry leaf in the lower right-hand corner. It’s simple but ties everything together beautifully.

I’m entering this card into The Card Concept challenge #220 (Autumn Days – so much inspiration); I feel like the style of this card is Classy and Elegant with the rich color scheme and layered textures.

This project was pure hygge from start to finish—warm colors, layered texture, and that cozy feeling of creating something heartfelt. Here’s the video from my YouTube channel:

I have a free PDF tutorial for this card available on my blog, so you can make your own version and feel the hygge too.

Grab your favorite inks, settle in with a cup of something warm, and give this technique a try. There’s something truly special about slowing down and stamping with intention.
