A Double Z Fun Fold Valentine That Steals My Heart

It’s time for the Cut It Up! Challenge #348, and the theme for these two weeks is My Heart — which honestly could not be more perfect for a Valentine project. With hearts on my mind, I couldn’t resist creating a playful Valentine’s Day card that combines sweet imagery, bold color, and one of my favorite interactive styles: a Double Z Fun Fold.

This card starts with a rich Secret Sea card base for both layers of the Double Z fold, giving the design a strong, dramatic foundation that really lets the details shine. I brought in Strawberry Slush as the accent color, adding just the right pop of cheerful Valentine energy without overwhelming the design. The patterned layers come from the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper, which adds softness and visual interest while still keeping the focus on the focal elements.

The front of the card is where the fun really begins. Using the Alphabet A La Mode dies, I created a whimsical “I ♥ U” sentiment that instantly sets the tone. The heart replaces the word “love,” making the message playful and bold all at once. Nestled alongside the sentiment is the most adorable little bear from the Valentine’s Kisses stamp set, sweetly holding his tiny bear friend. At his feet sits a jar of honey, complete with a bird perched on top, and another bird resting right on the “U.” These small details bring so much charm and personality to the card and make it feel like a little Valentine scene rather than just a greeting.

Opening the card reveals even more love. Inside, I stamped the sentiments “Giving You a Big Smooch” and “Happy Valentine’s Day” in Secret Sea ink, keeping the inside heartfelt while still light and fun. The Double Z Fun Fold makes this card interactive without being complicated, and it’s one of those folds that feels extra special the moment you open it.

This project was such a joy to create, and it’s a perfect example of how die cuts and fun folds can work together to make something truly memorable.
