Floating Center Fun Fold? Yes, Please!

There are cards… and then there are cards. You know, the ones that make you grin like crazy and say out loud, “This is so stinkin’ cute I can’t even stand it!” That’s exactly how I feel about today’s floating center fun fold cards. These are true showstoppers, packed with charm and movement—and the best part? They’re super quick and surprisingly simple to make! I have included the measurements for this fun fold layout directly underneath my signature at the bottom of this blog post.

I created a video showing how to make this floating center fun fold, step by step, and that video’s linked below. For the card in the video, I began with a card base of Crumb Cake, folded to create a classic fun fold. Inside, a panel of Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper (DSP) was added to set the cozy tone for what’s to come. Then came the floating mechanism—that magical little piece that gives this card its delightful dimension. Scored and folded to perfection, it was adhered inside and tested to make sure the “wow” factor was fully functional.

The front left panel features an embossed piece of Crumb Cake using the Dotted Circles Embossing Folder, adding texture and subtle interest. On the floating panel piece itself, the sentiment “No one’s butter than you” from the adorable Poppin’ By stamp set was stamped in Tuxedo Black, and then a cheerful little kernel of popcorn in Daffodil Delight in the bottom left-hand corner was added with the word “Pop”. The floating panel is matted on Cherry Cobbler, tying in that rich pop of color that brings warmth and personality to the whole design.

Now let’s talk about the star of the show: that sweet popcorn bucket with its little face, black die-cut glasses, and tiny shoes—yes, shoes! I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler, did a bit of crafty surgery to layer it over a Daffodil Delight die-cut version, and voilà, the bucket is overflowing with buttery joy. Several more popcorn kernels and another “Pop” were added for good measure, and the front sentiment, “Poppin’ in to say hello,” wraps it all up with the perfect greeting.

But I didn’t stop there—I created this card four other ways, too! Each one has its own personality and flair, and I had such a blast playing with colors, patterns, and scraps from my craft table. One of those variations is being entered into the Colorful Options June 2025 Challenge, where the theme is aquas, blues, and that summery feeling we all love. The card I chose is full of fun yellows and happy shades of blue—so it fits the bill beautifully!

Another version is being entered into The Paper Players #740 challenge, which celebrates the theme Recycling Is In. For that one, I used leftover paper strips that were literally just laying on my desk waiting to shine—and I’m so thrilled I could give them new life on this fun fold.

The other two versions feature gardening and a touch of gold. And yes, as I said before, I do have a video tutorial! I walk you through exactly how to make the popcorn version of this card from start to finish. It’s easy, it’s joyful, and I promise—you’re going to want to make more than one. So pop on over to the video (see what I did there?), grab your supplies, and let’s get crafty together.

Because honestly… no one’s butter than you.
