Fresh Take on Impressions Abloom

Today’s card is super fun and takes a different spin on the project we created together during yesterday’s Paper Party Live. I pulled out the Impressions Abloom stamp set with its coordinating dies and paired them with some extra touches for a look that feels both familiar and fresh.

The card begins with a gorgeous embossed background. I ran a piece of Basic White cardstock through the new Peaceful Greenery 3D Embossing Folder, and it fit perfectly while adding amazing texture. For the flowers, I used Crushed Curry ink, stamping the inside portion in full strength for a darker shade and stamping off for the lighter outside petals. The centers came to life in Cajun Craze. The leaves were stamped in Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist, giving just the right balance of depth and brightness. After die cutting all of the pieces, I layered them onto a Basic Black oval for a bold focal point.

The embossed white panel is matted in Basic Black and popped up on a Basic White card base with dimensionals, which really makes the texture stand out. Two flowers are adhered directly to the card front, one at the top left and one at the bottom left, while the third overlaps slightly at the bottom right and is raised with dimensionals. The leaves are tucked in all around for a natural arrangement. The sentiment, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a small angled strip of white, tucks under the middle flower and overlaps the bottom flower just enough to tie everything together. To finish the front, I added a touch of sparkle with Cajun Craze & Gold Dots.

The inside of the card carries the design through with a panel of Basic White embossed on the right side with the Peaceful Greenery folder, layered onto a mat of Basic Black for a crisp, coordinated finish with a fun stamping of “for being there”.

Here’s a shorts YouTube video with step-by-step making of this card:

And because I know you’ll want to try this layout yourself, I’ve created a free downloadable PDF tutorial for you. It includes the measurements and all the details so you can recreate the card step by step.

I am submitting this card to three online challenges: This card uses Basic Black, greens of Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze—a nod to The Card Concept Challenge #219 with its “Blooms & Butterflies” theme and color suggestions. I’m also submitting this one to Word Art Wednesday #716-717 and Sweet Stampin’ Challenge where I used green (my favorite color).

Thanks so much for stopping by – hope you get inky today!
