Today’s card is bursting with fall vibes, and I couldn’t love it more! The rich tones of Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Pumpkin Pie blend together with the rustic charm of plaid and texture for a card that feels like a walk through an autumn forest.

I began by die cutting the large tree and leaves with the Autumn Trees dies from Very Vanilla cardstock. Using Blending Brushes, I softly brushed Balmy Blue and Early Espresso inks across a panel of Very Vanilla. That created the perfect backdrop for the tree and gave a sense of sky and depth.

Next came the star of the show: the tree and its colorful leaves. I blended Garden Green, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie onto the die cuts, layering the colors until they looked just like the turning leaves of fall. The background panel was then adhered to a Cajun Craze card base. To the left side, I added a strip of plaid Early Espresso from the Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper pack for some extra cozy texture.

For a touch of warmth, I wrapped Irregular Weave Trim around the card front, tying it across the DSP section in a neat knot. The tree was popped up with dimensionals to stand out against the background, and the leaves were secured with a bit of glue to give a natural, scattered look. The sentiment “Grateful For You” was stamped in Early Espresso on a strip of Very Vanilla, trimmed at angles, and tucked in perfectly. Three Streaked Dots were added to finish the front with just the right amount of fun detail.

The inside of the card is just as thoughtful. A panel of Very Vanilla was layered onto an Early Espresso mat. To tie it all together, I added a narrow strip of the same Autumn Toile DSP at the bottom. It’s such a simple touch, but it brings the whole card together beautifully.

This card is all about gratitude and fall beauty, and I’m so excited to share that it’s being entered into two online crafting challenges: Word Art Wednesday, Weeks #718-719 where the theme is Anything Goes, and Inkspirational #350, where the theme is Trees.

If you’d like to make this project yourself, I have a video tutorial that walks you through each step:
And I’ve created a free downloadable PDF tutorial for you as well.
I hope this card inspires you to pull out your inks, brushes, and dies to create your own fall masterpiece.
