Roaring Good Fun with Something Old and Something New!

Today’s card has a big personality and a whole lot of dino-sized charm! I had so much fun mixing some older favorites with brand new products to create a playful birthday card that’s just right for a little one—or any dinosaur fan, really!

This cheerful card started with a piece of Old Olive Designer Series Paper from the brand new Floral Impressions pack (165603). The almost-striped pattern adds just the right touch of movement and fun. I used the largest round-ish die from the Round We Go dies to cut a shape out of the bottom right corner of the DSP, then layered the panel onto Basic White cardstock. That negative space became the perfect peek-through window for the star of the show—an adorable t-rex from the Darling Dinos stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

I colored the dino with Old Olive, Lemon Lime Twist, and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends, giving him a vibrant, friendly look that really pops. For the sentiment, I stamped “Roar Means You’re the Best in dinosaur” from the same stamp set on a scrap of Basic White and die cut it with the next smaller round-ish shape. That piece was popped up with dimensionals just above and to the left of our dino friend.

The whole art panel was layered onto Crushed Curry cardstock, which added a bright, happy border before being attached to the card base with more dimensionals for depth. Inside, I echoed the outside layers with a Basic White panel matted with Crushed Curry and stamped it with “Hope Your Birthday is Dino-mite!”—the perfect finishing touch. A trio of Ombre Matte Decorative Dots in green gave the card a playful, polished finish.

I also filmed a video showing how this card came together—be sure to check it out below and leave a comment to let me know what you think!

This card is joining two fantastic challenges: The Paper Players Challenge #736 where the theme is “Something Old, Something New,” and AAA Birthday Challenge #73 in celebration of their 6th anniversary—how fun is that?
