Snow Much Blue to Love

Clean & Simple Snowman Card

Some days just call for clean and simple, and with the world outside looking like a winter wonderland, a snowman felt like the perfect place to start. This card came together with that calm, cozy feeling that only a CAS design can bring, paired with a palette of soothing blues that feels both wintry and fresh.

I began with a Night of Navy card base, which instantly grounded the design and gave it a crisp, classic feel. A layer of Basic White created a clean slate for everything to come, while a strip of swirly mixed blues from the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper added gentle movement and interest without overpowering the simplicity of the card.

The star of the show is the sweet snowman tucked inside the glass jar from the Jar of Joy stamp set. Stamped in Night of Navy, the jar and snowman feel bold yet soft against the blue tones. I added Balmy Blue snowflakes inside the jar and used the same color for the snowman’s scarf and hat band to keep the look cohesive. The sentiment, “Wishing You Good Things,” from the Banner Sayings stamp set felt just right—simple, warm, and versatile.

After punching all the elements, I had a little fun with the details. The jar lid was colored with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends for dimension, and the snowman’s nose got a pop of Blueberry Bushel…because why not? A touch of Wink of Stella on the snowman and snow adds just the right amount of sparkle without breaking that clean-and-simple vibe.

The jar is popped up on a Stylish Shapes circle and layered over the DSP strip, slightly overlapping the card base for subtle visual interest and texture. The sentiment nestles in along the bottom of the DSP, and a few white Moody Palette Glossy Dots finish the front with a soft, polished touch. Inside the card, a Basic White panel framed with Balmy Blue leaves plenty of room for a handwritten note while tying the colors together beautifully.

This card was so satisfying to make. There’s something extra special about letting color, white space, and a simple focal point do all the work—especially when those colors are shades of blue. ❄️💙

This card is heading off to several fabulous challenges that provided so much inspiration for this design. I’m entering it into CAS on Friday #325, where the theme is Snowman, which made this sweet jarred snowman a perfect fit. It’s also being shared with Addicted to CAS #299, using the code word Glass, thanks to that cozy little snow globe jar. The layout was inspired by the wonderful sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches #719, which I loved translating into a clean and simple winter card. I’m also playing along with Shopping Our Stash, where the theme is Old and New—using the older Jar of Joy stamp set paired with newer products like the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper and the Banner Sayings stamp set. Finally, this card fits beautifully into Inkspirational #359, with its visual prompt of Shades of Blue, something I clearly couldn’t resist. I’m always grateful for challenges like these that spark creativity and push me just enough outside my comfort zone.

I’ve created a free downloadable PDF with all the details so you can recreate this card yourself.

I also filmed a step-by-step video showing exactly how this card came together from start to finish.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Clean and simple cards like this always remind me why I love cardmaking so much—sometimes less really is more.
