With This Sweet Die Cut Scene Card
There’s something about fresh spring colors that instantly lifts the mood, and this card was pure joy to create from start to finish. For the latest Cut It Up! Challenge #354, “Colors of Spring,” I leaned into those happy, vibrant hues and paired them with playful die cuts to bring a cheerful little scene to life.

I started with a beautiful piece of Nature Walk Designer Series Paper in that dreamy Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel swirled brush pattern. It already feels like a soft spring sky, so building from there was easy. After matting it with Basic White, I used a circle die from the Springtime Scenes bundle to cut an opening slightly toward the top of the panel, knowing I wanted a portrait-style layout. A scrap of Balmy Blue tucked behind the opening adds that perfect hint of sky peeking through.

The layered panel was then matted with Lemon Lime Twist and added to a Balmy Blue card base, creating a fresh and lively color combination that just feels like spring. To bring in more dimension and detail, I die cut leafy circles from Lemon Lime Twist and arranged them within the opening. Using the same circle die set, I created a delicate white frame that adds just the right finishing touch around the focal area.

The sentiment, “Sweet Springtime,” was stamped in Blueberry Bushel onto a die-cut label and popped up with dimensionals to give it a little lift. From there, the fun really began. I added small flowers in Flirty Flamingo, larger blooms in Basic White, and even the cutest little ladybug using Real Red and Basic Black. Those tiny Lemon Lolly flower centers may have required the Craft Tweezers, but they were absolutely worth it for that sweet, detailed finish.

A few Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels were the final touch on the front, adding just a hint of shimmer without taking away from the softness of the design. Inside, I kept things coordinated with a Basic White panel matted in Lemon Lime Twist, ready for a heartfelt message.

This card is a wonderful reminder of how a simple die cut opening can completely transform your layout and give your paper a whole new life. If you’ve been holding onto your favorite Designer Series Paper, this is such a fun way to showcase it.

I would truly love to see what you create for this challenge. Pull out those spring-inspired colors, grab your favorite dies, and have fun creating something that makes you smile. Just be sure to include at least one die cut to play along. I can’t wait to see your beautiful projects!
